Edward II (b.1284-d.1327)
His death was of particular interest to the Museum. His Queen, Isabella, became the mistress of the exiled Roger Mortimer in Paris. The pair invaded England and imprisoned Edward. He died in 1327. Reputedly by means of a red hot poker inserted into his rectum. The evidence would seem to support that theory. (It is rumoured that this exhibit inspired Johnny Cash to write Ring of Fire).
